Materials Engineering Department
Welcome to the Materials Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Al-Qadisiyah. We are dedicated to advancing materials engineering education, research, and innovation to meet the ever-growing demands of modern life.
About the Department
Established to address the pressing need for materials engineers across various sectors of modern life, our department plays a vital role in producing graduates who are equipped to make significant contributions to industry, healthcare, and the petroleum sector—industries critical to human well-being. Our comprehensive program spans four years and covers both theoretical and experimental subjects, enriching students’ knowledge in their specialized field.
While our department encompasses general materials engineering, we categorize materials into three main disciplines: metallic, polymeric, and ceramic engineering. As a result, our graduates gain in-depth knowledge of material selection and inspection, forming and manufacturing processes, ore extraction, metallurgy and heat treatment, corrosion, welding, and casting processes. The rapidly evolving field of materials engineering has ushered in revolutions in renewable energy, energy storage materials, and communications, particularly with innovations like graphene.
In summary, the constant emergence of new materials necessitates continuous learning. Students and graduates must stay abreast of developments in the materials field, and this can be achieved through collaboration with our department.
