About College
The College of Engineering was founded at Al-Qadisiyah University in the city of Diwaniyah in 2005-2006 to accommodate the growing need for engineering cadres in Iraq, especially after the movement and reconstruction that Iraq witnessed after the year 2003, and to meet the needs of the community of the city of Diwaniyah (in particular) and the unknown geographical area in it (in general).
The first two departments in the college are Departments of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. These departments enrolled the first batch of students in the 2005-2006 academic year, when 107 male and female students (58 males and 49 females) enrolled at that time, according to the capacity set by the college .
In 2008-2009, the Department of Chemical Engineering was founded, and in the year 2013-2014, the Department of Road and Transportation Engineering was created. In the academic year 2014-2015, the college presented, with exceptional efforts, two studies to create two scientific departments: the Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and the Department of Materials Engineering. The Department of Materials Engineering was created in the year 2015-2016 and the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering in the year 2020-2021. The college also witnessed various qualitative breakthroughs in At the organizational and academic levels, it witnessed growth in the number of teaching staff and students. Postgraduate studies programs were also started in the year 2018-2019 in structural engineering and applied mechanics. It has now expanded to nine postgraduate programs, including doctoral studies in structural engineering.
